The "Villa des Roses" and "La Poterie"

During the week you will stay in one of two residences: a restored 18 th century rose-colored villa/country house--or gîte as the French call it--that has four apartments, or just adjacent to the villa in a stone cottage called "La Poterie" -- a restored pottery studio with a newly renovated and spacious apartment.

•Registrants will be asked to choose which room they like depending on availability at registration time.

•The exact cost of the retreat is dependent on the accommodation option selected.

Descriptions of the four apartments:

La Poterie Cost: $3300

This apartment was created in 2006 and features a lovely yellow tiled kitchen, living room, bedroom, bath with an especially deep bathtub—all decorated in the traditional Provençale style. The bedroom overlooks an enclosed terrace with rattan and teak furniture, where the group will meet for its daily program, weather permitting.

On the third floor apartment there are two bedrooms: the blue room with a double bed and windows that open onto the back terrace and the yellow room with twin beds and one large window overlooking a persimmon tree and olive grove. There is access to a terrace with sitting area and boules/pétanques (French game) court.

Each apartment has its own fully equipped, small kitchen with new appliances: clothes washer, stove and refrigerator. The tiled bathrooms have modern plumbing and deep tubs with hand-held shower nozzles, and two toilets. While there are no clothes dryers, the clothesline plus the Provençale sun provide an adequate drying environment.

There will be two sets of towels and one set of bed linens provided for each bedroom in this "self catering" type of accommodation. There is no daily housekeeping service.

Given the age of the villa and stone cottage, there are a few tasks associated with it that need to be attended to by all visitors. These have to do with securing the gates at night and window shutters as you leave the apartment.

Your hosts, Barbara, Douglas and Amy, will occupy the two-bedroom apartment on the second floor of the villa. Most dinners will be served on the stone terrace outside of their apartment or in their large dining room.

We hope that you will find your accommodations at the Villa des Roses

and La Poterie inviting, charming and memorable

as you experience your week in Provence
